SOFTWARE PACKAGING COVER

I went with the paper fold/origami inspired design for the cover. It's avery simple and elegant design that I think will be a pretty good design for a series. So far, this is just a first draft, but I'm hoping to make it more detailed in some way. The first design on the left is an unfolded paper pattern. The second design is abstract shapes that resemble a close up of origami. In both designs, I tried using different hues and colors to give dimension and depth. The title is what Adobe is using right now, but I'm thinking about designing a new one because, I think, CS1 and CS2 have the same title design and CS3 and CS4 have the same title design. So, I guess Adobe is changing it up every 2 series. Iono.

  1. #1 is a better fit for photoshop because it fits in with the adobe brand look, yet is simple and unique with the overlapping shapes, very creative.

  2. #1 has a nice sense of dimension that conveys the most important feature of Photoshop, layers, and how they interact. #2's abstraction is eye catching but lacks a strong connection to Photoshop. With some revision, #2 could act as your Illustrator cover.

  3. This is VERY creative. I like the idea a lot. I agree, I like #1 better. I like the more apparent use of color and hue. #2 might look better on black to get the colors more punchy. I wonder if putting a colored background would be too much for #1. I can't even think what color to put...which probably means it won't look good lol. What if the background was black or a dark blue...? So will your design be a matte or the glossy part? I'm kinda interested as to how you are going to treat that.
    Good job. Good Luck.

  4. As usual, looks awesome. I like the second one better, I think the first one is more oragami like but the second one is a cooler abstract looking design. I like the colors in the second one and the use of negative space between the graphics.

  5. I think both designs are pretty sweet looking but don't really see the connection to the fact that it is an image editing software. I feel like this would be more fitting for a drafting or construction software. Also I think the type should be a little bigger because it doesn't look proportionate to the design.

  6. Looks niice. I like both designs, but yea, I think No.1 works best with Photoshop. No. 2 is more dynamic but too vector-like. I'm wondering how you'll do InDesign's cover...

  7. I like them both but I do like number one and it's colors. It does look a little like origami, but I still like it for photoshop.

  8. I think you went a little far from the latest looks and eventhough they are creative I don't see the connection to the what the software is for... It's cool looking and interesting... maybe you can try to incorporate some filter or something that tells that photoshop is a image editing software... I might not be getting it yet... I like your style it shows in every project you do... very simple and clean...

  9. I like both of the ideas, it has a very contemporary/abstract feel. With the first one, it might look interesting with other colors added to it, to make it pop, something other than blue. Perhaps...

  11. they both work for me but what is lacking is depth. now try incorporating gradient or varying values within the shapes. its very flat right now and these programs are about making things come to creative life.

  12. They're both really cool, but maybe the second one could be used for another program, maybe Illustrator, then have a third type of "origami fold" for the last program box? The first is nice but feels like it's a little plain, or it needs something else to help bring it out a bit?

  13. I like #1 as well. I could totally see that on the shelf. I still feel like it needs a little more. I'm not sure more of what but probably gradients or something? Great job overall!
