SOFTWARE PACKAGING

I have chosen to design packaging for the Adobe CS5 collection because of its creative background in both software and in packaging. I t will be a challenge to design for something that has succeeded so well in design, so that is why I am taking on this brand.

    I like the ones on the top image, second row. Its very abstract and fluid. Are these shapes suppose to represent feathers like the old PS? Instead of doing the master suit, i think you should focus on PS, IL, ID..

    I like your origami idea (paper folding...). That concept of bringing fine art into the digital world for the packaging would be neat. And the editorial would look great too.

    The last one is interesting, and I think you could do a lot of variations with it for each program. It's a nice transition from the plain squares of cs4 to a 3d block look. Like when video games went from 2D to 3D. Plus there's a lot of 3D features in Photoshop now anyway.

    The sort of splash design should be more effective and if you can make its look unique than others have done in the past then it will become a very interesting design.

    I like the paper folding and lava lamp themes. The lava lamp theme seems like a logical progression from the liquid and rectilinear themes from CS3 and CS4, respectively, as the liquid starts to take form. The forms of the lava theme are interesting but they feel isolated from the product typemark.

    I liked the ones on the bottom. I like the paper folding seems like it is something that would be around in the future. I like the bubble or circles in the first one as well. I think what Jenny San said about focusing on just Ps, Ai, etc would be better since those are the ones with more individual designs.

    Alan, great research. I like the very last one. I like the 3D-ish idea you have. It reminded me of "Super Mario" and when I look at your poster, I'm kind of looking for the mushroom! :) anyway, I think by adding fresh and bright colors you will have a great design.

    You should go with the lava lamp or leaves idea. The other designs are creative but seem a little too abstract. I feel like there should be something else though too, like more type or pictures of people.

    I like the one on fourth row in packing column because I like the lava lamp bubbles on the packing. Make bubbles 3D would be cool.

    All of it has a look that could work really well but the paper folding and the lava lamp theme has a more engaging look to it because it's innovative and fresh. The leaf is something the viewer has already seen and has a cliche look to it.

    Overall, they're all great ideas.

    The ones I find the most interesting are the bottom one in the first page, and the top one in the last page. They seem very abstract. The other ones seem to not be up to adobe standards (or maybe its just the sketches ^_^).

    I know you'll come out with something amazing. Keep it up.
