2016 OLYMPIC LOGO

So here's my 2016 Olympic Logo for Chicago-- so far. I decided to go with the abstract geometric Sears Towers. I also went with the gradient in this logo to show movement. I also chose Gotham Nights as my type because it is narrow like the tower itself and almost looks like a city skyline. So please be as critical as possible. Don't hold back.

  1. The overall idea and style is a very attractive. The iterations you created were creative and fun. The idea of using a swoosh like design that is part of the build is an interesting concept to explore.
THe final logo you chose is very chicago in feel and style. There is good architecture there and it is a metropolis of buildings and people. But it looking kind of retro in design especially in the black white version of it. You might want to streamline the idea but keep the shape of the structure. The swoosh may be need to break of the angular feel of the design.

  2. I love that you made the Sears tower an abstract design out of blocks. Very clever. I like that you included all of the Olympic colors because it is very appealing to the eye and catches one's attention. Nice work with the font too. The square serif font resembles building blocks itself and it matches nicely with the Sears tower. Sorry I don't have much criticism. I think yours looks realistic and professional.

  3. Your final logo is a very nice geometric abstraction of the Sears Tower and the type choice is spot on. My one issue with the logo though is its diminished appearance when displayed in small applications. I thought that your logo sketch of the wind swooshes creating the building was more iconic and readable at any size.

  4. I tried to find how difference between two figures (#8 and #9) ha anyways they both will work but I like all figures you designed. As for #1 to 5, I concern about the condition of lacking transparency... color blur. #8 and 9 will be better and could be remember how they look like. Nice work!

  6. The final one you chose is also the one I would go with. It has everything that an Olympic icon should have. For some reason I especially like the way it looks on the red background.

  7. I love the final logo; however I did not notice the two little stick on top of the tower until I enlarged it. This is a big problem. When the logo is small, they are going to be lost.

I suggest either taking them off, or making them thicker (which may not seem as nice as the first idea).

But I love it! Good Job!

  8. I like it but I still stand by what I said about the two sticks on the top not being visible. Try thickening the strokes. Overall good logo :]

  10. I think my favorite is the one that appears to be your final. I like the type and I feel its flows very well. I think what others said about the lines that are sticking out on the top is true that they will be lost when it is small.

  11. I like 10 the most, those gradations in the Sears tower are very nice, it gives it nice future looking feel as well as abstracts the building. The condensed type is a nice visual echo of the tower too, a great choice.

Maybe you try putting gradients in the wind shape on 7-9, to make them feel more like air. That icon is also interesting, I just think it's not as polished as your other icon.

  12. I love #8. Good job Alan. Well done. #8 has a good icon, good balance, and the colors are working very well together. One thing I would change about it is to separate the icon from the word "Chicago". I mean add some more space between the two.

  13. Are No.8 and No.9 the same?
I like your icons but I think that the solid ones would make a better Olympics logo because of production reasons (The building might be hard to see from far away because they are partially transparent). The condensed type does work well with you icons.

  14. I really like what you've done with the abstract geometric look. I was thinking that maybe at the top you could try adding another rectangular or squared shape because the parallel lines do look as if they are fading away. =)

  15. I really like the one you chose. Its simple and creative. I like the use of the colors and the verticalness [if thats even a word] of it. Good job overall.

i still think its too tall. im wondering if its possible to work the 2016 in the building vertically on the right bottom right side. or a 20 - building - 16. Im trying to see if we can eliminate something to make the logo less tall. also your logo does not work small - so lets see what we can do to balance the type and image so that it does.

  17. I like the logo especially how you processed the colors. But since it is really "skinny" it will make eyes blur if it present on a small size. And I like that rounded font better.
